Now you can work with all of the U.S. healthcare
providers right on your own computer.
CarePrecise Complete (CPAC) makes basic data on the complete U.S. healthcare provider records accessible on your desktop. CPAC contains the basic demographic information on all U.S. HIPAA-covered healthcare providers, including the full NPI Registry.
Download all 7.1 million U.S. healthcare providers — physicians, dentists, hospitals, practice groups, pharmacies — and access them in ordinary office software.
Used across the industry by health plans, governments, research programs, and law enforcement, CarePrecise Complete (CPAC) is the complete list of all HIPAA-covered U.S. physicians, hospitals, nurses, dentists, laboratories, pharmacists and every other kind of healthcare provider in the United States, with specialty and contact information – including practice and mailing addresses, phone and fax numbers – updated every month. (Email addresses may be purchased separately.)
To build CPAC each month with freshly updated information, we start with the NPPES database (National Plan provider and Enumeration System) from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) - also known as the NPI Registry. We merge this data with information from the PECOS database (Provider, Enrollment, Chain and Ownership System), the LEIE database (List of Excluded Individuals and Entities), our own CarePrecise-derived data, and other sources to create one of the most robust healthcare provider databases available.
Up-to-date, authoritative information
CPAC is comprehensive and authoritative, sourced from the information reported and updated as required by law by the providers themselves in their federal National Provider Identifier (NPI) record, and is the most accurate source of detailed information on the nation's 7.1 million doctors, dentists, nurses, clinics, hospitals, laboratories, pharmacies and all other provider types.
Why is CPAC better than an API?
CarePrecise database products reside on your desktop or laptop computer, ready to use as a complete - and fast - dataset. You can create your own queries without relying on an Internet connection or complex programming. With CarePrecise Gold, you add the convenience of software that makes getting into the data easy, with features that save your queries, and make updating a snap. By contrast, an Application Programming Interface (API) will have restrictions on the number of records you can access per search, and severely limit the criteria you can include. With CPAC, you have all of the data, and you can create complex queries. For example, you can pull a list of Family Medicine physicians who have been in practice longer than 10 years, who are enrolled to bill Medicare, and who practice within a 35-mile radius of downtown Baltimore, Maryland. Not possible with any of the currently available API solutions.
Historical data back 10+ years
Our separate database of rich data on deactivated providers since 2005 includes the date of deactivation, name, address, specialties - all of the same fields as the standard data on current providers. Updated and included with each month's release.
Multiple practice locations and alternative names
CPAC now includes two new tables:
- Other Practice Locations - multiple practice locations per provider
- Other Organization Names - alternative organization names per organization provider
CarePrecise Complete (CPAC) is designed to be used on standard desktop and laptop computers, overcoming the file size and maximum row and column issues posed by oversized data files, using a process that organizes the data into separate tables for name information, address information, etc., plus data from other federal sources. This allows queries to act on the full dataset (over 5 gigabytes) on a normal PC, either using the Microsoft database, or by importing into other database applications such as FileMaker, SalesForce, MySQL, MS-SQL, Postgre, Oracle, FoxPro, Caché, etc. using the provided CSV files. (Special licensing may be required for certain applications.)
CPAC can be used to:
- Correct and enrich your provider data
- Create tightly targeted lists of providers by specialty, location, type, gender and more
- Check PECOS provider enrollment for physicians and other providers (Medicare billing eligibility)
- Identify new providers and those who have updated their information
- Identify providers who have had Medicare billing privileges revoked
- Find historical data on deactivated providers
- Segment providers by specialty and subspecialty
- Develop research data and market analyses
Exclusive CarePrecise-derived Data
With CarePrecise Complete you can identify all providers working at the same practice site using the CarePrecise exclusive CoLoCode™ location matching field. You can use the CoLoCode and the provider taxonomy codes to identify physicians who work in hospitals, dentists who work in specific practice locations, and much more. The powerful CoLoCode is an exclusive CarePrecise feature.
Estimated Years in Practice
CarePrecise uses multiple data sources to establish an estimated number of years that providers have been in practice. This data point is another exclusive CarePrecise feature, and it is included with the basic CPAC product.
Find Providers Within a Miles-Radius
With CarePrecise Gold, you can use the Geographic Radius tool to find any of the 7.1 million U.S. healthcare providers within a radius of any central Zip Code. Pick the central zip, set the number of miles, and click the Find Matches button. You'll see them all displayed and ready for immediate export, without any API restrictions. Gold also contains the geocoding for providers' practice location zip codes, for use in finding nearby specialists, clinics, hospitals, and all the rest.
Providers' Historical Records
For all of the 7.1 million HCPs and HCOs, CarePrecise not only keeps archives of their information long after they cease serving patients, and it is included in the basic CPAC database, including their name, last practice address and telephone, specialties and licenses, and more, looking back more than a decade. In addition to these deactivated records, CarePrecise includes a table of newly-added records that our customers use to easily update their in-house databases.
The product is delivered in two formats as downloadable files, each containing identical data:
