Enhanced Pharmacy Fax Database

An advanced data mining and community crowdsourced program to improve prescriber/pharmacy communication

Fax Counts   |   Included in the Data   |   Types of Pharmacies   |   Licensing

Counts change with each monthly release, and will be reflected in the counts below.

Enhanced pharmacy fax number database
ScriptFax is built using advanced data mining to acquire hard-to-find chain pharmacy fax numbers, and is the best value in a well-populated database of pharmacy fax numbers. ScriptFax reveals hidden fax numbers for CVS, Walgreens, Rite-Aid, Walmart, Target and other chain pharmacy locations, as well as more than 45,000 independent pharmacies.
ScriptFaxCS is a special version that is tested and expanded by a crowdsourcing program of prescription infrastructure companies. Organizations who wish to buy into the ScriptFaxCS program are background-checked and agree to report new or changed information, and fax numbers that are incorrect. ScriptFaxCS is available only to qualified Testing Partners, and requires participation in the crowdsource program. Testing Partners may qualify for a discount on the monthly subscription price. Contact CarePrecise Sales for information on becoming a ScriptFaxCS testing partner. The basic ScriptFax version, without contributions from testing partners, is available for sale at the pricing shown above. Non-participants may purchase the ScriptFax basic version.

CarePrecise has also recently developed ScribeFax, an enhanced clinician fax database, that can be utilized in prescription and treatment clarifications and medical records requests. 10% will be deducted from the prices when purchasing ScribeFax and ScriptFax at the same time.

Pharmacy data from hundreds of thousands of source records, beyond the pharmacies' NPI records, is mined by CarePrecise to create the most comprehensive database of pharmacy fax numbers available. Mined data fills gaps in pharmacy fax numbers, particularly in chain pharmacies such as CVS, Walgreens, Walmart, Rite Aid, and the rest. To this, ScriptFaxCS Partners add value by reporting inaccurate fax number data, correct fax numbers found, and suggestions for improvement of the product (ScriptFaxCS is available by special agreement only.)

Unlike the NPI registry and other publicly available pharmacy fax number sources, which contain few working fax numbers for some chain pharmacy locations*, ScriptFax contains thousands more fax numbers for chain and independent pharmacies.

The crowdsource version of Script FaxCS, with corrected, new and deprecated numbers provided by testing partners, is restricted to those participating in the ongoing crowdsource data improvement effort, either through direct reporting to improve the dataset, or funding of the program. Contact the program director about becoming a testing partner by requesting ScriptFaxCS participation information.

A Complete U.S. Pharmacy Database

ScriptFax includes all pharmacies, not just those for whom a fax number is reported, and it includes more correct pharmacy fax numbers than any other existing resource. Included for all pharmacies are the name, pharmacy physical address, phone number, type of pharmacy, latitude and longitude of the pharmacy zip code, and number of pharmacists, among other data (see table below). Advanced data mining appends fax numbers where none are accessible theough available sources.

Robust Pharmacy Fax Data

By drawing on pharmacist data as well as the pharmacies' records, ScriptFax fills in gaps left (intentionally) by many chain pharmacies who do not wish to broadly expose store fax numbers. The numbers below are counts of records with fax numbers. Note that in the counts below, Total Records with Fax differs from Unique Locations in that one location may have more than one NPI record, and the database contains all. If multiple fax numbers are available for a single pharmacy location, it may have more than one record in the file. This ensures that certain data, such as licensure and contact persons, are presented. Total Records in DB is the total number of pharmacy in the database, including those for whom we have not yet identified a fax number.

Counts shown are for ScriptFax Basic:

All U.S. pharmacies are included, even those that we do not yet have fax numbers for.
Only four chain pharmacy counts are shown, but similar coverage pertains to all chains.
These numbers are approximate, as data changes continuously. New updates are released twelve times per year. Not all records are populated with all data points.

These numbers pertain to ScriptFax Basic, and not to the more advanced ScriptFaxCS.
To obtain ScriptFaxCS, contact the program director by requesting ScriptFaxCS participation information.

What Data Is Included in ScriptFax?

Version 2.07: The database is presented as a "flat file" that can be used in Excel or other spreadsheet or database program. Each record – which may be more than one per location – appears on its own row in the Excel and CSV files. A single pharmacy location may have more than one record in the file. This ensures that certain data, such as licensure and contact persons, are presented.

Data Formats

ScriptFax is delivered in three formats: Microsoft Access .mdb, Microsoft Excel .xlsx, and Comma Separated Values .csv. Product version 2.03. Builder version 4.77.

An archive of records that have been deprecated as a result of testing or other method of verification is preserved in the file PharmacyFax_Deprecated, identical in structure to the ScriptFax file.

Licensing ScriptFaxCS

ScriptFaxCS is a community crowdsource program, intended to be an ongoing improvement in healthcare technological infrastrusture, and is a model for future such programs. In addition to theincreased clinician fax population of ScriptFax Basic, ScriptFaxCS licensees may qualify for reduced pricing and additional fax coverage acquired through crowdsourcing. Request ScriptFaxCS participation information. Special licensing is required for use of ScriptFax Basic or ScriptFax CS in a derivative product such as a web application, directory, SaaS or descktop application, or in a CRM. Contact us for licensing information.

Licensing Basic ScriptFax Database

Standard licensing included in the single download and subscription pricing shown above permits limited undirected use by a single user/team working within a single organization on behalf of the purchasing organization only, for the basic ScriptFax dataset. Neither the complete product or any part of its contents may be shared, sold, or otherwise disseminated, or made visible outside of the purchasing organization in any manner.

*Additional Information

Duplication of fax numbers occurs where more than one practitioner shares a practice location, and occasionally where a practitioner has an optional second record for their business entity. Additionally, chain providers, such as Walgreens Pharmacies, may use a single or central contact point for fax and/or other communications intended for multiple locations. All records are provided so that the user can select by practitioner and type of record. If you need to unduplicate the fax numbers in Excel, make a copy of the file, and delete all columns except the fax number column. Then use Excel's built-in duplicate removal feature: with all of the data selected/highlighted, select the Data tab and click the Remove Duplicates button. Data is delivered exactly as reported and updated by the providers themselves to their federal NPI registry records. Purchase these lists with the understanding that there will be duplicate fax numbers and a degree of inaccuracy. Each list is shown above with the number of unique fax numbers. CarePrecise does not independently verify this data; rather, it is published as reported by the providers themselves on their federal NPI registry records, therefore no warranty is or can be offered as to accuracy. No refunds are offed on digital products and services.

Includes providers in all 50 states plus territories.

CarePrecise makes no warranty or claim as to deliverable rates, merchantability or fitness for a specific purpose, or viability or legality regarding the use of its data products. Full responsibility rests with the user. Purchaser understands and agrees that its use of CarePrecise fax lists and other data will comply with U.S. federal and state laws relating to fax, mail, telephone and other communications.

Subscription plans include the listed release schedule for the listed time period, with releases approximately monthly or approximately quarterly as indicated. Each release is based on the most recent dissemination from the data sources currently available at the time of the release.

* Some chain pharmacies obfuscate the fax numbers for many of their locations' federal NPI records in an attempt to reduce fax spam. The EPFD uses QoRelate advanced record linking and validating technology to acquire fax numbers from pharmacists' records to fill in the gaps.
