Upcoming File Changes

May 1, 2026 (estimated date): v10 of the CPAC dataset, part of CP Complete, CP Advanced, CP Gold and CP Platinum, will have changes in two of the MDB format files, and two of the CSV format files.

  1. NPPES_Addresses.mdb and its identical data content CSV version will be split into separate files:
    • Practice Address data will be contained in NPPES_Addresses_Prac
    • Mailing Address data will be contained in NPPES_Addresses_Mail
  2. NPPES_Taxo.mdb and its identical data content CSV version will no longer contain the TaxoDescr field (description of the taxonomy code). The TaxoDescr field contained in the files TaxonomyCodes.MDB and its identical data content CSV version will now be used to access the taxonomy code descriptions.

These changes are being made to accommodate Microsoft Access and other desktop database software users where Access does not permit datasets or query recordsets larger than 2MB. They represent the first major change in the CPAC dataset in ten years.

Updated documentation is anticipated to be made available April 1, 2026.

May 1, 2026 (estimated date): Changes in the v10 of the CPAC dataset, referrenced above, will make it necessary to recode parts of the CP ListMaker application (CPListMaker.mdb) that is part of CP Gold and CP Platinum so that it continues to offer all of the same features and operability as it did before the changes. The new version of CP ListMaker (v10) will be made available free of charge to all users of version 7xx.
